The Institute of Mathematics, Academia Sinica, Taiwan, R.O.C., offers positions at the post-doctoral, assistant, associate and full research fellow levels in all fields of mathematics. The duration of these positions varies depending on the type of the position. Appointment of a full research fellow automatically carries tenure, while that of an associate research fellow may or may not carry tenure. Appointment of an assistant research fellow is contract-based for up to 5 years and subsequently subject to review for possible tenure. Applicants for postdoctoral positions should have obtained their PhD degrees within the last five years. However, applicants who have completed their PhD degrees in mathematics in the last three years as of September 1, 2020, and who possess outstanding research records are invited to apply for the Institute research scholar position, which is a position for 4-5 years at the post-doctoral level. There is no teaching obligation and this provides an opportunity to conduct research either independently or as part of a research team in a quality environment.
