The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Hunter College invites applications for the Ada Peluso Visiting Professor of Mathematics and Statistics for the 2017-18 academic year. This endowed chair is to be filled by a professor in the area of financial mathematics and/or financial engineering. Appointments for either the Fall of 2017 or the Spring of 2018 are also possible. The department currently offers an MS degree in the area of Statistics and Applied Mathematics and is looking to launch a new concentration in the area of Financial Mathematics. The ideal candidate will have a strong publication record in the area of Financial Mathematics, a strong commitment to research and experience with graduate level teaching. The teaching load for the semester is the equivalent of two courses per semester, plus some activities such as lectures or seminars. There is considerable flexibility here. For example, the Peluso Professor might teach one course, organize a weekly research seminar, and give several talks during the semester.
