The Mathematics Department at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology invites applications for both tenure-track and visiting positions at the Assistant Professor level for the Fall of 2017. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to excellent undergraduate teaching and continued scholarly and professional development. We are seeking individuals who will interact well with both students and faculty in our science and engineering programs as well as strengthen our degree programs in mathematics, biomathematics, or computational science, or our current (and envisioned) minor programs in statistics and data science.
Rose-Hulman is an institute of technology with approximately 2200 undergraduate engineering, science and mathematics students, and 100 masters’ students in various engineering and science programs; most of the undergraduate students are in the engineering disciplines. Every undergraduate student on campus is required to take at least five mathematics courses, with nearly everyone taking a course in either statistics or probability. Because of our strong belief in personal attention, our class sizes are small (typically under 25). A standard teaching load consists of 8 sections over three 10-week terms, with the number of course preparations limited to at most two per term. More information regarding our department can be found at http://www.rose-hulman.edu/math.
Application: For full consideration, please apply online at https://jobs.rose-hulman.edu, and include the following materials: cover letter, curriculum vita, teaching and research statements; graduate transcripts and contact information for three letters of recommendation (with at least one specifically addressing the applicant's teaching ability and experience).
We will begin initial screening on November 14, 2016. Candidates who plan to attend the AMS-MAA Joint Meetings in Atlanta should note this in their cover letter. Those candidates seeking to be considered for onsite interviews at the Joint Meetings should submit a complete application by December 4, 2016.
